WINE MUSEUMS
MUSEUM CENTER FOR WINE AND VINE AT THE ALGERUZ WINERY
The Museum Centre for Wine and Vine installed at the former Algeruz Esate, has a valuable collection which consists of various machines and tools related to wine production.
The creation into a museum of this space, designed from scratch for viniculture purposes, stresses the representative set of material culture in its possession and develops along a museum/exhibition pathway centred on the collection, which pieces together the wine making process.
Starting at reception, the visitor enters the welcoming area bordered by the Algerian Anfora vinification system tier, the route continues via the laboratory to the wine storage and drainage tier. On to the gallery, a space also set aside for temporary exhibitions, leading to the multimedia and leisure tier which links in with the Reserve Muscat tier.
The pathway ends at the distillery tier, also known as 'wine cellar closure' as it is here that the production cycle is completed. Back at reception there is promotional material and other useful information to be had.

ATALAIA AGRICULTURAL MUSEUM
Situated on the urban perimeter of the civil parish, the 18th century Quinta Nova de Atalaia estate is an important reminder of the Municipality of Montijo's rural past.
Property of the Santos Fernandes family until donated to the Municipality of Montijo in 1997, this donation enabled the installation of the first museum dedicated to the subject of agriculture in the municipality.
All the ingenuity of olive oil and wine production with original presses and machinery can be seen in this museum. Outside you will find an orchard and vegetable garden that completes the rural environment.
